What makes Luka different from a generic ranged attacker?

The official profile gives Luka a specific loop: selected skills improve Thunder Coating through precise casts, and coated arrows release piercing arcs. His weapon is Bow and his class is Assault. The useful learning target is therefore the relationship between a correctly executed action, coating and the resulting shot.

Early launch coverage describes him as a strong ranged damage option, while also noting positioning and stamina requirements. We recommend him highly for an early ranged plan, but have not independently measured his live damage against equally invested alternatives.

Start with a coating drill, not a long combo

1. Read the live skill text and identify the action whose precise execution improves Thunder Coating.
2. Perform it against a familiar target. Watch the resource or visual feedback and confirm that you achieved the intended state.
3. Follow with a shot from a position where it can connect. A correct setup is wasted if the target leaves the line of fire.
4. Repeat while moving defensively between attempts. Keep the resource needed to avoid the next recognizable attack.
5. Only extend the sequence once the setup and safe exit are repeatable.

The official showcase does not specify input timing, the length of the precision window or a universal rotation. Check those details in the current client. This drill is deliberately about observing the mechanism rather than inventing button timings.

Aiming position is part of the damage plan

Being ranged reduces some chasing, but it does not guarantee productive shots. If a monster turns or moves out of your useful angle, continuing the same sequence can waste the entire window. Move to restore the angle before spending more resources.

Start a familiar hunt and record why a shot failed: distance, angle, target movement, an interruption or a mistimed action. Treat each as a different problem. Upgrading the bow will not fix a shot that never connects.

Do not spend the entire stamina budget on offense

Published launch guides emphasize stamina management for Luka. The practical implication is to keep an exit available while learning. If the offensive sequence leaves you unable to respond to the next attack, shorten it and rebuild consistency.

This is a risk-management recommendation, not a claim that a particular skill consumes a fixed amount. The exact stamina cost and any equipment modifiers should be checked in-game. A drill that works with one loadout may need adjustment after changing it.

Where Luka belongs in the tier list

We place Luka in S for a clear early ranged damage plan. That is an investment recommendation, not a statement that he always beats every other Adventurer. Thunder matchup and precise execution matter. A flexible Fated Adventurer may become a better comparison point when the target does not reward Thunder.

Game8’s early list places Luka below its top trio; Gacha.gg gives him a higher placement. Their disagreement is a reason to inspect the assumptions, especially elemental conditions and investment, rather than average the letters into a fake numerical score.

How to choose support around Luka

Begin with the failure you want to reduce. Madelyn provides medicines and a Spore loop whose nearby-ally benefit makes placement relevant. Arkaya’s Resolve-based shield may help when pressure disrupts your firing sequence. Haze brings a different support kit, with Archdemon and gauge interactions to understand.

Troubleshoot a weak hunt

Should Luka replace a melee character?

Try him if chasing and long commitments are the main reason your melee plan fails. Keep the melee option if you already execute it reliably and enjoy the rhythm. A ranged S-tier recommendation is not a requirement to replace a practiced Midori.
